Lillian Dean Dance

Tiny Tots - (Ages 3 thru 5) - Teaches the fundamentals of tap, ballet and basic tumbling while expanding their imagination through song and dance.  5 year-olds also get introduced to hip hop.

Ballet - A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses. It is recommended that all students take at least one ballet class a week.

Pointe - An advanced form of ballet "on the tips of the toes" that is made possible by specially reinforced shoes called pointe shoes or toe shoes. (Based on teacher's approval)

Lyrical
- A dance style that combines elements of ballet, modern and jazz dance techniques. It is commonly set to popular music with vocals or just instrumental bars.

Modern - A free, expressive style of dancing started in the early 20th century as a reaction to classical ballet.

Jazz - Jazz dancing is a form of dance that showcases a dancer's individual style and originality. Every jazz dancer interprets and executes moves and steps in their own way. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance.

Hip Hop
- An urban ethnic dance form that has gained popularity in recent days.  Hip Hop dancing is body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music.  It helps the dancers improve flexibility to develop body balance and to coordinate the muscles.

Tap
- is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps.  Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats.

Stretching/Technique - defines how to move your muscles, and which muscles to use in what way in order to make your dancing look the way it should. Why do you need it? Proper technique allows you to perform harder elements because doing it properly is the only way to do them without falling. Learning technique for dancing is like learning alphabet, grammar and spelling for proper writing.

Acrobatics
- Acro dance is a style of dance that combines classical dance technique with precision acrobatic elements. Students are taught basic tumbling and tricks in the correct form and as they perfect them they progress onto harder tricks. Our approach is based on the individual ability of the student.

Troupe
- A class filled with specialty numbers that uses props and different styles of dance.  This class is a great confidence builder as it encourages students to express themselves through lip synch and character animation.
